最近翻译新闻，总是搜索到obituary讣告，又想到当下某事，就整理了下。

这个系列共两部分：讣告结构套话 + 如何描述一个人的生平，此篇为第一部分。

（插一句，整理才知道，原来讣念fù…）

一、人已西去，除了die，还有哪些表达呢？

1. William Paul Vosspassed away Mon., Jan. 18th, 2021 at East Adams Rural Hospital.

某人何时何地去世

（常说具体日期前要用on，但有时也可以省略的）

2. Walsh, Edward Donald ROTTERDAM Edward Donald Walsh, 86 years young, passed from this life onto the next on January 22, 2021.

某人何时去世，享年XX岁

（岁数用years young，可能是因为已逝之人不会比这个岁数更年轻了吧，突然sad….）

3. Jimmy D. Todd, 91, was suddenly taken from us by complications of Covid-19 at Moses Cone Hospital on January 20, 2021.

某人何时何地因何溘逝，享年XX岁

（因病突然去世，非寿终正寝，所以用了被动态；complication 并发症）

4. Francis “Frank” Hubert McGraw Jr. of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the age of 78.

某人何时长眠家中，享年XX岁

（也就是走得很安详）

5. Paul L. Gidula, of Taylor, and a former resident of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

某人何时何地，灵魂得以安息

6. John Allen Holmgren, 79, of Roanoke, Virginia, departed this life to be joined with his Lord Jesus Christ forever.

某人，今年XX，已在天上与主相聚

（若信基督教，可通用）

7. Lyman Peters, formerly of Lancaster, the youngest child of Leamon and Mary C. (Zahm) Peters, passed peacefully into the arms of His Lord on January 5, 2021 in Kingsbury, New York, eight days shy of his 88th birthday.

某人已长伴在主身旁边，何时何地谢世

（shy，这里表示不足，此句意为离88岁生日还有8天）

8. Johnnie C. “J.C.” Mayall, of Stuttgart, went to his eternal home on January 1, 2021. He was 85 years young.

某人何时回到天家，得见主面，享年XX岁

【这里说一下，享年和终年的差异：享年，重在享，老去之人岁数通常大于70，“人生七十古来稀”嘛；终年，重在终，强调死去，尤其是岁数不大的人死于非命，比如出车祸，因公殉职。另外若是作奸犯科者，非良善之辈，即使90岁去世，也配不上用“享年”这一褒义词。】

二、丧礼追悼会相关，除了funeral，还有哪些表达呢？

1. A Celebration of Life will be held in private 生命礼赞

2. Memorial service will be held 追悼会

3. Funeral arrangements will be handled by 葬礼安排

4. Funeral services will be conducted 丧葬事宜

5. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family at… 葬礼事宜

6. A private viewing and mass for the family will be held at… 举行弥撒

7. The family will receive friends on Tuesday 接受亲朋吊唁

8. Any condolences or life celebrations may be sent to sb at sw. 慰问金/品

9. To plant trees in memory 植树怀念

10. Memorial contributions may be made to 捐款

11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to…

代替送花，可以以他的名义捐赠给……

（in lieu of 代替，意思同instead of，只是更加正式）

【这里可以说一下中西文化差异：在我们国家，有人故去，亲朋要给丧礼礼金，也就是“随份子”，这钱通常归主人家；在西方，尤其是信教人家，有人故去，主人家通常会要求亲朋以逝去之人的名义向教堂或慈善机构捐赠】

三、深切怀念悼念之语

1. Yingjun Zhao will be loved and missed by all the lives he touched in so many ways.

2. His talents, his smile and regular “Hello” will be sorely missed but most of all Zhao will be missed!

3. He will be deeply missed as another angel gained his wings.
